After bake-out yesterday, I added 301 Pa of D2 gas. The pressure declined to 260 Pa overnight, showing absorption of 40 Pa. This is nearly identical to the behavior seen in the MR1-1 test. The current test run is now live, with data streaming and chat available at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hECYJ4omefw

Post-analysis of the cell gas show it is not pure deuterium, but at least 50%. The strong signal at A=3 is almost certainly HD. The residual water vapor and OH- is probably from the RGA system and its sampling capillary rather than from the cell, as there is no trace of D2O at A=20. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1y0RgpBHmWkYNCxzj6CVKJiE-IVteOH0p https://drive.google.com/open?id=1nRLgu71-bNGut43iTjquqIa7NdK0FnAl

The next part of Alan Goldwater's, Mizuno Analogue test - MR1 replication attempt is now live at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cc1VlBpzpgY Alan Goldwater says "Starting at 70 watts heater power, this test will cover the remaining temperature steps up to 400°C. Cell pressure at start-up was 940 Pa, showing substantial absorption of D2 from the 1008 Pa initially loaded. Some calibration points to watch are 70w=229C, 80w=250C, 90w=275C, 100w=292C, 110w=310C, 120w=330C, 130w=347C" This is the part of the run interesting temperatures.

Q: Alan, Are you able to periodically share the Gas mass analysis in the live stream? A: The sampling port is where the ampoule is mounted, and I didn't want to disturb anything. I will do the RGA measurement toward the end of the test run.

This morning I pumped out the cell again, then loaded 1010 Pa of D2 using 10 mg of LiAlD2 in a small stainless steel ampoule. The live test is now under way, with data streaming on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qGSw_ir2JuM Chat is on, so post your questions and comments there. I haven't started to warm up the cell yet, while watching for adsorption of the D2 gas. Pressure is down to 980 Pa and still dropping. Once the temperature is raised, any substantial excess heat will be shown by comparison with the master calibration curve in the Live Document above.
