I suggested firstly to use the rector cell and the system of Bob Higgins described in his article "Surface Processing of Carbonyl Nickel Powder for Ni-H LENR Application". The creation of Rydberg hydrogen could be obtained by two methods: (1) - HV discharge (Defkalion method) or (2) - use of radioactive isotope, for example Ni63 mixed with the nickel powder (a method probably used by Rossi in his E-cat). The method of HV discharge requires a minor internal modification of the Higgins cell. I design a HV device based on Tesla technology. It must assure creation of Tesla waves through the nickel powder with a broad band frequency. It will have two operating modes: HV AC pulses or HV DC pulses. The following parameters are achieved: HV AC: pulse amplitude 40 kV; pulse rate 5 – 30 p/s; power consumption from a 6V battery – 5 W. HV DC: pulse amplitude 20 kV, pulse rate 3 – 8 p/s, pulse energy 0.2 J, power consumption – 7 W. The pulse energy in HV DC is easier estimated because it is based on a discharge of capacitor with a known value. The pulse energy of HV AC pulses is approximately estimated from the input power consumption and the repetition rate.

Here is the mechanical drawing: http://chinookhelicopters.com/temp/path4503.png http://chinookhelicopters.com/temp/path4503.png The electrical schematic is identical to a fluorescent light driver. Low voltage isolated DC is fed to each filament to heat them, then any type of electrical power is supplied between the filaments. This setup would prevent the powdered nickel from acting like a dead short between the electrodes because the ultrasonic sound would keep it levitating and dispersed. Also, this setup is similar enough to what MFMP has already done, so they can reuse the tubes and machined end caps.

I have a suggestion on how to build a reactor: This reactor creates a cloud of nickel dust and hydrogen and creates a non-arcing glow discharge in the cloud. A) Build a reaction vessel out of a tube of electrically insulating material, like glass or quartz. B) Install ultrasonic transducers inside(or outside) the reactor to cause mechanical levitation of the nickel powder in the tube. C) Fill the reactor with a small quantity ( ~1g ) of nickel powder. D) Install end caps with heated cathodes at both ends of the reactor. Heated cathodes aid in creating electron emission and glow discharge. E) Add hydrogen at low pressure. F) Apply varying AC , DC , RF, and/or Pulsed power to the electrodes to generate a gas discharge though the cloud of levitating nickel and low pressure hydrogen. G)Perform gamma, caloric and gas composition studies on the reactor.

@Adrian Ashfield Well that is great on two counts, 1, it supports the claim of Celani's passive system, 2, it again means we are making the right choice to work on the novel Tesla inspired HV driven system. Tungsten normally needs to reach high temperatures 1700 - 3000K to disassociate H2. With respect to Celani's wire, if it is able to do it at 100s of degrees (bulk average temp) it really is something and that is part of the reasons for the tests we have and will perform in the US on splitting H2. There is one thing to consider, that is of one of the only LENR papers that seams to have been both replicated and published in a respected journal - that of the electron screening effect of Deuterium in loaded Palladium. This is the work of Huke et al. http://lenr-canr.org/acrobat/CzerskiKenhancemen.pdf It would be great to be able to repeat that research for Ni/Cr +H. With a correctly configured resonant system with extremely low losses, LENR might just happen due to electron screening (maybe that is what is happening in both Rossi and to a lesser extent Celani). In less optimal systems, a beta- source might trigger it, in a barely configured system, the smorgasbord of triggering that comes from an HV ARC - might just be the ticket to have an easily on/off able system with good control on power output. When/if we get something that works, we can then start to refine the efficiency and maybe just remove the big hammers.
