View Test Celani Cell #2 Start 12/20/2012 07:00:00 Stop 12/20/2012 09:00:00 Select P_XS_LOW - Wow.. 6 watts for almost 10 minutes. Maybe that's when the copper foil was put on top of the cell?

Hi, just reading through your back data and noticed a query (12 Nov - Cool Down Mini Experiment), in which you refer to the unexpected increase in resistance of the Celani Wire when re-pressurising the reactor. I might be stating the obvious - but here goes! Pressure and temperature are directly proportional. Temperature and resistance of standard electrical conductors is also directly proportional. Therefore an increase in pressure should equate to an increase in resistance because the internal temperature has been modified during re-pressurisati on. The reverse could potentially also occur if the pressure drop across the gas regulator is sufficient to cool the reactor through Joule-Thomson Effect. This would most likely occur with a fresh bottle of Hydrogen. Regards and deep respect, Steve.

I see the correlation to the blue power pulse. I will explore the waveform a bit longer to see why the rise times seem to be out of order. Perhaps there is some form of magnetic or ground coupling to the temperature probes, and your IR concept is also very interesting and needs to be explored. This is a good mystery to solve.

While it may look like it comes from the outside of the glass, I am betting it is the power supply voltage dip. Try correlating it with the Blue Voltage. If it is, I can only assume that the IR is heating the outside of the glass primarily (it does have a larger delta T). Any other thoughts?

I have one quick question. I noticed that one of the temperature drop events seems to happen approximately every 8.2 minutes. Do you have someone to walk past the device at this period or are you aware of another event which happens at this rate? I apologize if I am disrupting your work with too many questions.

Congratulations on your progress guys. I think you might have hit the nail on the head regarding the temperature variation due to someone walking by the device. Have you considered putting some form of air baffle to prevent air currents from hitting the unit as folks walk by to eliminate this problem? I am seeing more than 1.5 degrees C drop in outside glass temperature due to this effect which is significant. Of course, there may be some other issue causing the temperature drop since it appears to be of relatively short duration(30 seconds or so). The isolation between the glass and the mica heating very clearly demonstrates an integration effect due to the low pass filtering response of the system. You guys are getting good data.
